From the infamous alleys of the capital city to a dharna at Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar. These are the sex workers of Bhubaneswar, who have taken to the streets demanding dry ration and Rs. 5000/- cash assistance from the government as directed by the Supreme Court.
Women engaged in sex work are subject social exclusion and stigma. The ongoing pandemic situation has made their life even hard on account of financial distress and negligence during ill-health.
The situation has been so tough that it has forced them to come out in the open and voice their demands in public.
Social organisation, the Odisha Patita Udhar Samiti (OPUS) has been supporting these sex workers.
